Our client is a dynamic and rapidly growing ~$1B North American food manufacturer. We seek a highly accomplished Plant Manager to plan, organize, direct, and control the activities of the Operations function of the 500+ person California food manufacturing facility. Will be responsible for the performance of all department functions — Manufacturing, Engineering, Maintenance, Health & Safety, Quality, Human Resources, Material Management.

Position Overview
This position is accountable for overseeing ongoing plant activities necessary to fulfill product demand within the expectations of customers and in accordance with applicable corporate and government requirements in the most safe and efficient manner possible. The plant manager is responsible for articulating a site vision that describes overall site direction and designing and implementing a plan driving towards the site vision. The individual will select and motivate staff in order to foster a positive work environment that stimulates growth and continuous improvement.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for overall site performance in the areas of Safety, Quality, Morale, Production, Delivery and Cost
- Foster and develop partnerships between site, regional business teams, and global centers of excellence, creating a collaborative environment for more effective execution and ongoing plant optimization
- Provides leadership and resources to create an environment of continuous improvement where appropriate tools are understood and applied to maximize customer satisfaction and operational performance.
- Effectively develop and manage operating and capital budgets ensuring adequate human and financial resources to support corporate mission and strategic plans
- Accountable for defining tactics that drive operational activities within procurement, manufacturing, warehousing, distribution and technical services that are integrated with commercial and supply chain strategies
- Provide ongoing coaching and feedback with direct reports and ensure personal development plans are implemented for all site personnel
- Accountable for tracking, communicating and providing support for the continuous improvement of all key performance indicators (KPIs) required for the Tactical Planning Cycle
- Track ongoing operations and lead contingency activities whenever deviations outside of agreed upon tolerances are noted. Communicate and implement contingency activities to correct deviations including implications to existing forecast
- Accountable for proactively establishing and maintaining customer partnerships through channel partner and customer visits and interaction with the commercial organization. This includes interfacing with the Customer Operations to meet or exceed customer expectations
- Support all corporate safety, environmental, and quality initiatives.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor of Science in engineering or technical field
- Master of Business Administration preferred
- Ten or more years progressive experience leading within a processing or packaging plant environment
- Develop strategic plans that increase efficiency and profitability of this facility
- SQF and OSHA VPP compliance knowledge preference
- FDA and GMP requirements knowledge required
- Lean manufacturing knowledge required
- Demonstrates excellent problem solving skills
- Exhibit effective oral and written communication skills
