Our client is a leader in the development and manufacture of commercial and consumer equipment for the lawn, garden and agricultural industry. The business is a very profitable and growing ~$75 million division of a $1B global industrial parent company.
Title: Vice President of Operations
Reports to: President
Location: Fargo, North Dakota
We seek an experienced manufacturing executive with both operation and business competencies. The position has excellent growth and upward mobility potential and could lead to a General Management role with P&L within the organization.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develops and initiates strategic plans for the manufacturing, supply chain, manufacturing engineering and quality control departments
- Develop Lean Manufacturing and 5S methods for the plant
- Plan and implement the daily and monthly production schedule based on the 12 month rolling sales forecast
- Develop annual operations and capital budget for the production department based on the sales forecast
- Review plant manufacturing costs including capital expenditures
- Leads and motivates manufacturing management team
- Ensures customer satisfaction through improvement in product quality and efficiencies in manufacturing
- Optimizes utilization of assets
- Optimizes plant layouts and manufacturing systems
- Ensures costs reduction programs are initiated and accomplished
- Responsible for developing the plants long term manufacturing strategy
- Responsible for selecting and developing manufacturing management team
- Participates in strategic planning and development of company’s long-range plans
- Responsible for monthly and periodic progress reports to company President
Education & Experience
- College degree in manufacturing or engineering
- Minimum 10-15 years experience, with a t least 5 years experience in a Sr. level operations management capacity
- Experienced in mechanical assembly operations
- Experienced in managing/supervising scheduling with MRP systems
- Experienced with manufacturing systems
- Prior experience is establishing, managing and executing operational budgets exceeding $30 million
- Experienced in Lean Manufacturing and 5-S principles
- Experienced in metal fabrication, welding and assembly operations
