Our client is a $500M consumer durables equipment company.

Title:                     VP Manufacturing

Duties and Responsibilities
 
  • Provide overall operational leadership to the plant, providing leadership to the manufacturing operation and its support functions, which include quality and manufacturing engineering.
  •  Oversees product and process responsibilities for the site.
  • Interact with other manufacturing units, R&D, marketing/sales, customer service, purchasing and distribution on a regular basis to ensure that new products, processes, plans, promotions, and service requirements are translated into manufacturing operational plans.
  • Manage the manufacturing budgeting, planning, and communication both within and outside this function in order to meet the organizations goals
  • Insure that the morale of the non-union hourly work force of 750 + remains engaged and interact with the employees directly or through direct reports on a regular basis.
  •  Develop short and long term strategies/investment proposals, which will allow the company to achieve competitive advantages, service leadership, and cost reduction through more efficient manufacturing means including automation, systems, software, and hardware.
  • Develop the appropriate manufacturing strategies allowing the plant to find innovative and cost effective the ways to improve product quality.
  •  Ensure that the reporting staff is capable of executing and implementing the agreed upon plans and strategies.
  • Ensure that the facility is aware of and follows ISO requirements.
  • As required, make visits to major customers, participate in cross-functional teams, and interact with international affiliates.
  • Maintain a safe and injury free environment
 
Education & Experience
 
  • A minimum of 15 years’ experience in a moderate to high volume diversified industrial, equipment or automotive business is required with at least 10 years of relevant experience in manufacturing and engineering management. 
  • Minimally the last few years will have been spent heading up the manufacturing operation of a moderate to high volume manufacturing operation.
  •  Experience in machining, plastic injection molding and assembly operation is required.                               
  • Experience with lean manufacturing concepts, Six Sigma or similar programs are mandatory.
  • Previous experience in a plant of 300+ hourly employees.
  • Will possess strong financial skills in budgeting, expense control, forecasting, modeling, and investment economics.
  • Will have participated in cross-functional teams and been involved in continuous improvement projects.
  • International experience outside the U.S. would be extremely helpful. Especially Asia, but not required.
  • Some experience with manufacturing integration and culture change would be beneficial.
  • A Bachelors degree in a technical function such as Science or Engineering is preferred. An MBA is highly desirable.
